2005-2006 Academic Year

 05-01   Kathleen Penza (Whitin Middle School):  Purchased marching band uniforms for the Whitin Middle School Band.

 

2006-2007 Academic Year

06-01   Kathleen Penza (Whitin Middle School):  Purchased 90 lined windbreakers for the Whitin Middle School Band.

06-02  Bernadette Bazzett (Taft Elementary School):  Funded a Marathon Math night for Taft Elementary school students to encourage fun ways of performing math.

06-03 Stephanie Davis (Taft Elementary School):  Funded a portion of the International Fair in Taft Elementary which brings together second graders and high school students to explore different cultures.

2007-2008 Academic Year

07-01 Math and More Math – Math program for grades 1-4 with parent participation.  Makes math “fun” to garner more interest and understanding of math frameworks.  Sponsored by Bernadette Bazzett. 

07-02 Updating Uxbridge HS Art Room Computer Lab – Purchase of Image Editing software (Adobe Photoshop) and scanner for UHS Art lab to aid in graphic design.  Sponsored by Marjorie DePasquale.

07-03 “Recycle, Renew, Reuse” – An instrument restoration program. Grant needed to repair ten musical instruments for the Whitin Band.  In addition, “Share the Music” campaign to solicit used or unused instruments from community.  Sponsored by Kathleen Penza.

07-04 Music Technology – Enhancing Curriculum - A “Smartmusic”  learning software (CD) and hardware program which will help Whitin music students practice music at home and target mistakes.  Sponsored by Kathleen Penza. 

07-05 Creative Arts Campaign - Helps at-risk students in our schools through art therapy using clay and tile for mosaics.  Sponsored by Alison Dwyer. 

07-06 The Listening Program   - Auditory processing program using modified music and production techniques to help elementary school children with auditory perception processing memory.  Sponsored by Lillian Hazard. 

07-08 Math Backpack - Backpack for grades 1-4 to give additional math support for the teacher, student and parent.  Gives parents materials to support children at home (Books, CD, Activity sheets).  Sponsored by Kathleen Fletcher. 

07-09 Rob Surett’s Amazing Hero Art Show - “Be Somebody” art show relevant to Middle School issues -- such as respect and “anti-bullying.”  60-minute performance covers history, art and music to help promote Whitin Middle School’s mission statement.  Sponsored by Ronald J. Farrar. 

07-10 Multicultural music, story and dance program - To enhance the Taft Elementary 2nd grade International Fair for grades 1-4.  Program combines art, culture, language, dance, history and story through performance.  Sponsored by Margy O’Donnell. 

07-11 Cruising Continents Globe Cart - Hands-on social studies program which includes a “Globe Cart” with maps, key vocabulary and geographical aids for Taft Elementary.  Sponsored by Ruth Bandstra.

07-12 International Fair – Fair held at Taft Elementary involving 2nd graders and high school students. Explores cultural diversity through music, food, dance and technology. Parent/teacher participation. Sponsored by Stephanie Davis.
