Our MissionThe Uxbridge Education Foundation is an independent, community-based, non-profit organization established to provide academic and cultural enrichment for the Uxbridge Public Schools and its students. The Uxbridge Education Foundation will strive to continually improve the profile of public education in Uxbridge.
History of the Foundation The Uxbridge Education Foundation was started in 2005 by a group of citizens that wanted to help improve the education of the students of the Uxbridge Public School system by funding innovative teacher-sponsored programs and initiatives. Work done by some members of the Uxbridge Futures Committee formed the basis for the initial charter and vision for the Foundation. Funds would come from donations made by local residents and corporations and be distributed based on a competitive grant program. A Board of Directors comprising a cross section of interested members of the community would decide how the money raised would be allocated. In subsequent meetings the Board decided to start a scholarship for students of the UPS system.
What we fund? UEF has four grant categories: 1) Helen Ryan cultural award – for music, the arts, and athletics. 2) Signature projects – long range or large projects 3) Professional enrichment – for staff and teacher enrichment 4) Curriculum enrichment – innovative curriculum enrichment, such as technology. Funds are available only for projects that supplement, not supplant, the usual educational activities that are supported by the Uxbridge Public School System. Funds are also not available for capital equipment, student field trips – unless these items are part of a larger program, or salaries. Fundraising Events The Foundation has a number of fundraisers a year. We have an annual Superintendent's Gala in April, an Honor a Teacher program, and a golf tournament which we hold jointly with the Booster club. For information of these programs please visit our Foundation Events page. In addition to the above fundraisers, we accept donations year round, if you would like to donate please fill out the following form and send it with your check to the address below. If your company has a matching gift program please indicate that on the form. The Foundation is currently in the process of applying for tax exempt status and when it is approved we will furnish you or your employer with our tax exempt number.
How to get involved? The Foundation is always looking for volunteers. Volunteers could man booths, help out at events, or serve on the Board of Directors depending on how much time you can contribute.
